Will Oversee Programs for Residents of Low-Income and Affordable Housing

BOSTON (March 18, 2024) – The Connected Communities Foundation (CCF), a Boston-based non-profit dedicated to advancing community-based programs for affordable housing residents, has promoted Katherine “Katie” Baker to serve as its Head of Operations.
In her new role, Baker will oversee national operations and seven team leaders across the country who coordinate onsite staff delivering programs at 217 multi-family communities. CCF is one of the largest providers of housing-based supportive services in the United States, assisting more than 30,000 families living in low-income and affordable housing across 17 states and the District of Columbia.
“Amidst our continued growth, Katie has remained a driving force in advancing Connected Communities’
mission,” said Mai Dang, President of Connected Communities. “Her leadership, expertise, and unwavering commitment to service will be invaluable as she takes on national responsibilities for ensuring that residents have access to the support they need.”
Connected Communities collaborates with multifamily property owners, community teams and local partners to create stable, connected, and empowered affordable and low-income housing communities. Through strategic partnerships and data-driven programming, the organization supports residents by addressing their quality of life in key areas such as housing stability, employment, education, community engagement, health and wellness, and economic mobility.
“I am honored to step into this role and further the mission of Connected Communities,” Baker said. “From day one, I have been deeply committed to strengthening resident services and fostering impactful partnerships. As we continue to expand our reach, I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, partners, and community leaders nationwide to drive meaningful change and build stronger, more connected communities.
Baker has served Connected Communities for seven years in the position of Regional Team Lead, playing a pivotal role in shaping service-driven initiatives. She began her career as a community coordinator in Providence, RI, before advancing to the team lead for staff in Rhode Island, Connecticut and eastern Pennsylvania. Her work championed the development, implementation and sustainability of community-based service plans, partnerships, and outcomes reporting.
Baker has extensive experience in affordable housing, elder services, early childhood education and youth development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Penn State University and is a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island.
In recognition of her dedication to community impact, she was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Pawtucket Prevention Coalition in 2024. She also previously served as a board member at large for the New England Affordable Housing Management Association.
